Dr. Smith traveled to the Middle East the first time as a tourist and to preach in a Bible conference. After the next trip he became burdened for the Arabic speaking people. He saw a hunger for the things of God among a neglected people.
After 17 years as a pastor and Bible College teacher he resigned those duties and entered full time mission work with IBOM. His field of service is white unto harvest and the desire to go and help start churches is his burden.
Dr. Smith served as Dr. Runion's Vice President until April 7, 2018 when Dr. Runion went home to be with the Lord. He lives in Georgia and is continuing the work of IBOM started by Dr. Runion. His wife is Teresa and they have three daughters and several grandchildren.
Dr. Spivey is the Vice President for IBOM and he is also our field missionary to Mexico. He is married to Nancy and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They have 2 children-1 daughter and 1 son. Their son is currently the pastor at Cove Creek Baptist Church in Pickens, South Carolina which is Dr. Spivey's sending church.
Dr. Spivey has been battling cancer for about a year and a half now. Even though he is unable to travel to Mexico at this time he remains in contact with our national pastors there and is ready to return when the doctors ok it.
Chris Murray and his family have served the Lord in the Philippines for 20 years. His wife is Amy and they have 2 sons Andrew and Caleb. During that time the Lord enabled them to start 8 churches within their ministry and helped hundreds of other Filipinos start churches as well. They have also helped send and support several Filipino missionaries start their churches as well as Bible schools with financial support, Bibles, Sunday School, music and Bible College materials. These mission churches and schools are now producing young church planters who want to start churches among their own people. The Murray Family has launched the ministry of IBOM ASIA.
Spencer Smith was burdened for missions during his time at Crown College in Powell, Tennessee. It was soon after his gradutation from bible college that he joined the efforts of IBOM as a Field Missionary to Kenya. The Smith family reside in Kentucky and are sent out of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Shepherdsville, KY. The family consists of his wife Rebecca, their 2 daughters, Savannah and Micayla, and their 2 sons, Samuel and Micah.
Bro. Spencer serves as IBOM's field missionary to Kenya and Nairobi. These are two areas with great potential and people who want to hear the Word of God preached. He is currently traveling to the area at least twice a year.
Bro. Morris and his wife Penny have been in Montana for over 10 years. They have established Havre Baptist Church, currently running an average of 15 during services. He believes that it will take 10 more years for partial support of a pastor. He is praying he can start another church 20 miles east in Chinook.
They are preparing to welcome their 13th grandbaby this summer which will be born in North Carolina. Bro. Morris and Sis. Penny have 1 son, Daniel, and 2 daughters, Christie and Laura.
Dr. Runion was married to his wife Joyce for 57 years when he pased away on April 7, 2018. They have 3 daughters, Lynn, Angie, and Hannah. They also have 7 grandchildren.
Dr. Runion began his foreign missions work while pastoring the same church for 21 years. His burden grew from one country to several countries after seeing the great need and the people's response to the gospel.
His burden is to start as many churches as possible in his lifetime. His philosophy is that if one goes and preaches one time and many get saved, that's wonderful, but if one plants a church which can preach to them again and again; that's even more wonderful.
Dr. Lance went home to be with the Lord January 12, 2016. He left behind his wife of 57 years Martha. He also left behind their 3 children Elizabeth, Rondell, and Donald and 4 grandchildren.
Bro. Bud joined IBOM around 1998 as field missionary to the Philippines. He was supported by his faithful wife Martha Lance in all of his work. He worked closely with our national pastors during that time and oversaw Pastor conferences and youth camps with our national pastors.
